Job Summary:
The Commercial/Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project Management: Develop and maintain procedures and targets for contracts, ensuring timely completion and adherence to company standards.
* Scheduling: Schedule projects using Microsoft Project, Smart Sheets, Excel, and other relevant tools.
* Quantity Surveying: Prepare Bills of Quantities and schedules of rates, pricing works accurately and efficiently.
* Contract Paperwork & Procedures: Develop, maintain, and implement company procedures for contract management, including development and maintenance of standard forms and documentation.
* Design Interpretation: Draft design details for construction on-site with assistance from the design office, ensuring accurate interpretation of designs and specifications.
* Contract Analysis: Provide ongoing financial contract analysis, measure and document variations and extras, collate information for contract analysis, match POs with delivery dockets and invoices, and report on resources for completed work elements.
* Customer Care: Maintain strong relationships with existing customers, handle issues professionally and promptly, and uphold company standards.
* Site Supervision: Represent the company on-site, attend site meetings, take notes, prepare meeting actions, and maintain records.
* Financial: Ensure the minimum gross margin on contracts, and oversee accurate and timely payments in accordance with financial control procedures.
Necessary Skills and Attributes:
1. Qualifications:
* Preferably a third-level qualification in Landscape or Construction Management.
2. Knowledge & Experience:
* Previous project management experience is essential.
* Knowledge of plants and landscape materials is a plus.
* Experience in contract cost control.
3. Computer Skills:
* Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
* Experience with Liberate estimating software and Microsoft Project (training available if necessary).
4. Industry Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years in landscape construction or related construction sector.
5. Leadership & Management:
* Ability to work independently without supervision.
* Strong teamwork skills and ability to set/meet targets.
6. Communication Skills:
* Honest, straightforward communication with customers and team members.
* A pleasant and positive demeanor with colleagues and clients.
