Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled and proactive
Mechanical Engineer
for a contract role within a high-performing Device Engineering team. This position is central to the development of a new, complex medical device, offering the chance to work on a project from concept through to validation.
* Take ownership of engineering activities for New Product Development and Sustaining projects.
* Design and develop electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and plastic single-use parts.
* Lead the creation and execution of test plans and protocols; analyse data and draft detailed test reports.
* Conduct thorough root cause analysis to solve complex engineering problems.
* Build, test, and evaluate prototypes, iterating on designs for optimal performance.
* Actively participate in and lead technical design reviews.
* Ensure all work complies with design control and risk management standards in a regulated environment.
Essential Experience
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem-solver, eager to contribute to a complex development project. While experience in a regulated environment is a plus, a strong fundamental engineering skill set and a collaborative spirit are most important.
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* 3+ years of post-graduate experience in a mechanical engineering role.
* Proven proficiency in 3D CAD; SolidWorks is essential.
* Hands-on experience with prototyping and lab testing.
* A self-starter who can manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
* Excellent communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset.
Advantageous Experience
* 5+ years of experience within Medical Device development.
* Familiarity with Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and design controls.
