Job Title and Grade: Radiographer, Clinical Specialist, Practice Educator and Assessment Lead, (Grade Code: 3131)
The Opportunity
The Practice Educator and Assessment Lead will oversee the education, training, mentoring, assessment, and clinical placements for trainee and qualified Senior Radiographers. This role ensures that students and staff gain the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for their professional development and BreastCheck's operational goals. The post holder will bring discipline-specific subject matter expertise and experience and play a key role in the delivery of a high-quality, patient-focused radiographic service within the National Breast Screening Programme. Responsibilities include:
* Ensure that BreastCheck staff meet the clinical competency compliance levels for screening mammographers as set out in local and European standards.
* Liaise with Universities/HEIs in delivering the postgraduate mammography course.
* Conduct clinical mammography updates and refresher training for all Radiographers, ensuring proper documentation processes.
* Streamline operations in triple assessment clinics, requiring a good working knowledge of assessment procedures and ensuring staff receive thorough, timely inductions.
* Foster a supportive learning environment and facilitate students' transition from observation to autonomous work.
* Contribute to organising and presenting at the BreastCheck annual study day and other CPD events. Continuous professional development of staff is a core component of the role.
Working with the RSMs, the Practice Educator and Assessment Lead will facilitate effective communication between staff, management, and students, providing feedback and reporting organizational needs or issues.
The Practice Educator and Assessment Lead will model professional behaviour, demonstrating the values and standards expected of students and staff, creating a supportive, inclusive environment that promotes learning, teamwork, and professional growth in conjunction with senior radiographic management.
