The Role
We are recruiting a Transport Schedular to work in our Dublin distribution centre.
This is a full-time position (Monday to Friday) 8am – 5pm.
The Successful candidates will be responsible for our outbound delivery functions.
Reporting directly to the Distribution Manager, you will need a proven track record and experience of at least 5 years in a transport/logistics role. Experience in managing the day-to-day activities and maintain our SLA. Strong IT Knowledge essential (Intact). Demonstrate an understanding of the business, create strategic opportunities, and use this knowledge to improve results and service offerings.
* Route Planning: Assist in planning delivery routes to optimise efficiency and minimise costs. This involves analysing factors such as distance, traffic patterns, delivery schedules, and vehicle capacities.
* Coordination: Coordinate with various departments within the company, including logistics, warehousing, and customer service, to ensure smooth coordination of transportation activities.
* Load Optimisation: Assist in optimising the loading of vehicles to maximise space utilisation and minimise the number of trips required for delivery.
* Vendor Management: Coordinate with external hauliers, such as carriers and freight forwarders, to arrange transportation services as needed. This may involve negotiating rates, scheduling pickups, and tracking shipments.
* Data Analysis: Analise transportation data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. This could include analysing delivery times, transportation costs, and customer satisfaction metrics.
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards governing transportation operations, including driver hours-of-service regulations and vehicle weight limits.
* Customer Service: Address transportation-related inquiries and concerns from customers, ensuring timely and accurate communication regarding delivery schedules, delays, and other issues.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within the transportation function. This may involve implementing new technologies, refining procedures, or negotiating better terms with hauliers.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to transportation activities, including shipping manifests, delivery receipts, and transportation contracts.
* Training and Development: Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to transportation logistics. Provide training and support to transportation staff as needed.
The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility with a can-do attitude. Ability to grow within a fast-paced company.
