Job Title: Director of Nursing (DON)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced nursing professional to lead our clinical team in a respected, values-led organisation.
The ideal candidate will have overall responsibility for the clinical governance and day-to-day management of our nursing home. This includes leading a committed team of nurses and care professionals, ensuring the highest standards of resident care, regulatory compliance, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide strategic and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of exceptional, person-centred care
* Oversee all aspects of clinical governance, including risk management, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance
* Lead, develop, and support a high-performing team across nursing and care departments
* Ensure HIQA standards are consistently met or exceeded
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, and resident engagement
* Collaborate with residents, families, and multidisciplinary professionals to maintain a warm, inclusive care environment
* Take full responsibility for staffing, budgeting, and resource planning
* Monitor and review care plans, audits, and key quality metrics
* Champion a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for residents and staff alike
Your Team:
* Assistant Director of Nursing for day-to-day clinical support
* Experienced Clinical Nurse Managers and nursing team
* Support from regional senior management and compliance leads
* Access to HR, training, recruitment, and quality assurance teams
Essential Criteria:
* NMBI-registered nurse (RGN, RPN or RNID)
* Minimum 7 years post-registration experience in nursing
* At least 3 years in a senior management role (ADON or DON level)
* In-depth knowledge of HIQA regulations and national standards
* Proven leadership and operational management skills
* Excellent communication, delegation, and problem-solving ability
* A resident-centred approach to care and service delivery
* Degree-level education and/or post-grad qualifications in management or healthcare leadership (desirable)
