Job Opportunity: Clinical Pre-Assessment Nurse
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate clinical pre-assessment nurse to join our team on a fixed-term contract.
The successful candidate will work in a dynamic clinical setting, interacting with patients and conducting comprehensive assessments to identify and manage risks. They will provide patient education, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
The role involves:
* Conducting thorough pre-operative assessments including medical history review, physical examinations, and necessary investigations.
* Identifying and managing existing medical conditions that may impact surgical outcomes.
* Coordinating and facilitating necessary pre-operative tests such as blood work, ECGs, MRSA screening, and imaging.
* Recognising and escalating any potential risks to the appropriate consultant or consultant anaesthetist.
* Optimising patients for surgery by ensuring they are fit and adequately prepared.
* Providing patient education regarding their upcoming procedure, anaesthesia, fasting guidelines, and medication adjustments.
* Addressing patient concerns, answering questions, and providing reassurance.
Key qualifications and skills include registration in the general division of the register of nurses, experience in phlebotomy, ECG recording desirable, strong clinical assessment skills, and the ability to identify and manage risk factors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to engage effectively with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
