Job Title: Assistant Fresh Meat Chargehand
Reports to: Fresh Meat Chargehand, Store Manager, Store Owner
Direct Reports: All employees within Butcher
Main Purpose of the Job:
Manage the Meat Department and ensure it operates efficiently and effectively at all times in the absence of the Fresh Meat Chargehand. Provide our customers with excellent quality and products and services. Communicate to team any range changes, offers or new initiatives.
Relevant Skills/Experience:
· 1 years' experience in a Supervisor/Manager role;
· Minimum 3 years' experience as a Butcher;
· Craft Butchery course desirable;
· Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word);
· Numerical skills required;
· Experience in gross profit and margins desirable;
· Good stock control;
· Creative;
· Excellent communication skills;
· Ability to engage with and prioritise customer needs;
· Accuracy, attention to detail, organised and flexible;
· Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;
· Previous customer service experience is an advantage.
Main Duties:
1. Always ensure that customer satisfaction is the number one priority by greeting each customer as if it's their first visit to the store and consistently deliver an exceptional service by displaying I-CARE service excellence behaviours;
2. Ensure all staff reporting to you are competent in any duties required and are given adequate training relevant to their tasks;
3. Assist to train fully any new employees who join the department;
4. Assist to drive Sales through KPIs reports, financial reports, brand initiatives, customer initiatives and employee knowledge;
5. Ensure duties and functions of staff members are carried out effectively and efficiently;
6. Assist and adhere to weekly stocktaking procedures and ensure they are accurate and any necessary action is taken in the Butcher;
7. Ensure purchasing of stock is carried out in accordance with procedures and control of stock rotation, so that quality and freshness of goods is of the highest order so as to maximise turnover;
8. Monitor and control department overheads (i.e. packaging, cleaning equipment etc.);
9. Achieve targets for stock holding as set out by the Store Owner/Manager;
10. Ensure all employees in the department are trained correctly on the weighing scales;
11. Ensure the correct cost price is against local suppliers;
12. Implement planograms correctly and ensure the correct range is in place in store;
13. Have a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation as it pertains to the Store, in particular but not limited to, Food Safety regulations, Health & Safety regulations and employment legislation;
14. Adhere to company rules, policies and procedures at all times;
15. Adhere to the food safety quality policy and focus on continuous improvement;
16. Enhance product knowledge by gaining information from a range of sources and share ideas, suggestions, builds on existing procedures/processes with employees and management;
17. To ensure hygiene standards are to the highest standards including a comprehensive HACCP plan and appropriate staff training;
18. Assist the Fresh Meat Chargehand to achieve Emerald status in EIQA;
19. Merchandise and present the department to the highest standard at all times;
20. Ensure standard and promotional pricing integrity is maintained correctly;
21. Be aware of and adhere to Health & Safety Regulations relevant to your department and to notify any breaches to management;
22. Engage with new initiatives and embrace new ways of working;

24. Perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time. These may be outside of your normal area of work. Furthermore, you may be assigned to work in other areas within the Store on either a temporary or permanent basis.
