Job Description
As an Engineer with a focus on Transmission & Distribution, you will play a pivotal role in project implementation and execution. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and industry experts to deliver the completion of projects. Your responsibilities will include conducting technical assessments, preparing reports, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring project milestones are achieved. This role will provide exposure to a wide range of expertise relating to the electrical engineering and construction sector. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge on a pathway to becoming a Chartered Engineer as their knowledge and responsibilities grow and evolve.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Manager on project progress, risks, and issues.
Analyse supplier information for alignment with design specifications.
Review and understand schematics, GA plans and projects specifications.
Design reviews, validate equipment and systems.
Work closely with civil designers to ensure civil aspects meet electrical equipment requirements.
Complete technical submittals, RFIs, equipment registers and trackers.
Analyse all design documentation and identify any scope gaps.
Attend and coordinate FATs with the Project Manager.
Manage electrical & civil design logs.
Review quality on site – walking down systems to ensure compliance with project team.
Skills and Requirements
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:
A degree in Electrical Building Services, Electrical Engineering, or Renewable Energy is essential.
Proven experience in the construction and delivery of renewable energy projects, including wind and solar developments. This must include onsite involvement with 38kV, 110kV, and 220kV medium-voltage substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid connections and MV testing and commissioning.
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar site-based construction role is essential.
Excellent delegation and organisational skills.
Ability to lead and mentor a cross-functional team essential.
Ability to work and collaborate with the wider project team essential.
Electrical trade background would be advantageous.
Strong civil engineering knowledge base.
Strong communications skills, both written and oral required.
