The Role As Health & Safety Advisor, youll champion a positive safety culture across our sites and depots, ensuring compliance with Irish legislation and company standards.
Youll support our management systems (aligned to ISO ), advise operations in the field, and help our teams plan and execute work safelyparticularly around confined space, high-pressure water jetting, traffic management, and trenchless rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities RAMS & Permitting: Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and permit-to-work (confined space, hot works, excavations, etc.) for jetting, CCTV, robotic cutting, CIPP lining/patching, tank cleaning, and related activities.
Site Assurance: Conduct regular site audits/inspections (plant, lifting, temporary works, traffic management/Chapter 8, housekeeping, PPE, gas monitoring, lock-out/tag-out), and close out actions promptly.
Incident Management: Lead and support incident/near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions; track trends and report to management.
Training & Induction: Coordinate and deliver inductions, toolbox talks, learn from events, and competency refreshers; maintain the training matrix (e.g., Safe Pass, Confined Space, First Aid, MEWP, Abrasive Wheels, WJA).
Regulatory & Client Interface: Liaise with regulators and client representatives professionally (including Uisce ireann/local authorities); keep registers, records, and notifications up to date.
Subcontractor Control: Pre-qualify, review, and monitor subcontractor H&S documentation, insurance and performance; carry out audits and briefings.
Chemical & Environmental Controls: Support COSHH/chemical agent risk assessments (e.g., resins, fuels, cleaning agents), waste handling and documentation, spill response, and noise/odour management.
Standards & Continuous Improvement: Support the maintenance and improvement of our EHS management systems; measure leading/lagging indicators and drive behavioural safety initiatives.
Desirable Knowledge (nice to have) Utilities/civils experience and familiarity with confined space codes of practice.
Awareness of MSCC5, EN 1610/EN 805, pressure testing, and sewer rehabilitation workflows.
Practical understanding of traffic management (Chapter 8) and temporary works.
Experience on framework or public-sector projects (e.g., Uisce ireann).
What You Bring Third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
NEBOSH/IOSH Diploma (or working towards) is an advantage.
5+ years in a H&S role, ideally in utilities, environmental services, civils, construction, or FM.
Strong working knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and relevant Regulations (Construction, Chemical Agents, etc.).
Confident communicator who can influence at all levels, from site crews to senior management.
Proven ability to deliver engaging training and toolbox talks.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across various sites.
Comfortable with digital reporting tools and document control systems.
Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
