Overview At Medtronic, the Distinguished Scientist leads innovation in the Acute Care Monitoring (ACM) operating unit.
The role drives product strategy, scientific leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration to bring medical device solutions to market.
Responsibilities Develop an R&D technology roadmap that supports product vision and business goals.
Lead scientific discovery and define product needs for new ACM technologies.
Collaborate with clinical KOLs worldwide to translate patient needs into design criteria.
Work with regulatory, design control, and preclinical teams to ensure compliant product development.
Mentor cross‑functional teams and represent the organization as the primary technical contact on projects.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of relevant experience, or Master's/Ph D with 13–11 years of experience.
Ph D preferred in Biomedical, Optical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.10+ years in medical device product development, with early stage research to commercialization experience.
Experience in pre‑clinical research, protocol development, clinical studies and regulatory submissions.
Strong communication, project management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Key Skills & Experience Biomedical or related advanced engineering degree (Ph D preferred).
Early stage medical device research through commercialization.
Pre‑clinical protocol development and clinical study design.
Regulatory drafting and technical justification for pre‑submissions.
Design control, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements knowledge.
Nice to Have Project management experience and Six Sigma or DFSS certification.
