Main Purpose of Role:
The Head of Business Development, Data Centres will play a key role in driving Designer Group's Data Centre sector growth strategy. Under Executive Director guidance, you will develop new relationships with key stakeholders, identify new opportunities for Designer Group and nurture existing client relationships. You require a detailed understanding of the European Data Centre sector and at least five years' experience in a similar role.
This role will be judged on results and involves working collaboratively with Senior Operational colleagues and cross-functional teams to leverage expertise and reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership:
* You will contribute to the Data Centre Leadership team, focusing on delivering strategic business objectives.
* You will be an influencer and role model, empowering project personnel and promoting Designer Group's values: 'Safe, Respect, Challenge, Deliver and Trust.'
* You will work collaboratively with other directors and senior Operations colleagues to foster productive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and potential clients.
1. Business Development:
* You will develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth.
* You will explore and identify opportunities and new prospects in the Data Centre market, forging new partnerships.
* You will showcase the Designer Group offering, delivery achievements and competency in the Data Centre arena.
* You will work collaboratively to identify and capitalise on business development opportunities.
* You will work with the Group Managing Director and Executive Directors to deliver and adapt the Business Development strategy within the Data Centre sector.
* You will build and maintain long-term strategic partnerships with key clients.
* You will position and communicate the Designer Group offering to customers and senior stakeholders, using agreed brand rules and templates for consistency.
* You will support new business bids and tender submissions, collaborating with the Designer Group Estimation Centre of Excellence and other Group teams.
* You will contribute to contract negotiations, ensuring optimal commercial terms and aligning client needs with service offerings.
2. Industry Influence:
* You will monitor market trends, technological innovation and regulatory trends in the Data Centre sector, updating the business regularly.
* You will complete competitor analysis and profile reports.
* You will conduct industry research.
* You will represent Designer Group at industry conferences, trade shows and networking events, enhancing brand visibility and market presence.
* You will keep ahead of the industry and influence stakeholder thinking, both internal and external.
The Requirements:
* A Business Development Leader with a proven track record in the Data Centre sector.
* Strong technical understanding of Data Centre technology.
* A relationship management champion with a trusted network that can be tapped into for immediate impact in Designer Group.
* A comfortable collaborator with experience of diverse teams and complex client relationships.
* Effective networking skills and the ability to follow through on opportunities.
* An ability to travel or relocate to a Central European location as required.
* Clear appreciation of accountability by results.
