Staff Nurse - HDU Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours.
The Staff Nurse HDU will: be professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing (DON) or designated officer.
report to the Clinical Nurse Manager 3 or designated officer.
Responsibilities include: Practice nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics as laid down by the Nursing Board (An Brd Altranais/NMBI) and Professional Clinical Guidelines (local and national).
Adhere to national, regional, and Mercy University Hospital (MUH) guidelines, policies, protocols and legislation Work within their scope of practice and take measures to develop and maintain the competence necessary for professional practice.
Deliver the nursing care of an assigned group of patients within a best practice/ evidence based framework.
Manage a designated caseload.
Have expertise on the care of the critically ill patient.
Recognize life threatening and non-life threatening conditions within the high dependency setting.
Participate in clinical governance structures within the local/ regional /national clinical governance framework.
Have a working knowledge of HIQA Standards as they apply to the role/care setting, for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc.
Complete all mandatory training as deemed necessary by the DON and ABA/ NMBI.
Participate in performance evaluation / review with their line manager, identifying areas for improvement and appropriate plans / measures to achieve them.
Ensure that records are safeguarded and managed as perMUHpolicy and in accordance with relevant legislation.
Adhere to all hospital policies and guidelines associated with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Eligibility Criteria: Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the NMBIor be entitled to be so registered.
Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
Post graduate qualification in Critical Care Nursing desirable.
Experience in working in a Critical Care setting desirable.
Be competent in the care of critical care patients or be willing to undertake study in the area.
Show evidence of continuous professional development.
