Job Title: Technical Development Lead
About the Role:
The successful candidate will lead or support projects in our Core Business Initiatives (CBI) team focused on existing hydrophilic coated products and technologies.
This includes driving the development and integration of new materials, processes, or technologies into new products and processes. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of medical device design controls and be able to participate in cross-functional teams while effectively delivering solutions that benefit our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support to New Product Development (NPD), Global Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
* Lead or support projects to select and demonstrate the feasibility of alternative materials, processes, or technologies for new and existing products.
* Prepare technical documentation according to regulatory and design control requirements and company development processes.
* Work with cross-functional partners to gather stakeholders' input and develop plans to ensure requirements are assessed and met by proposed technical solutions.
* Develop protocols and experimental test plans, manage product build, transportation, and storage, and execute testing.
* Conduct statistical analysis of data and create detailed reports documenting results, conclusions, and recommendations.
* Represent Research & Development on cross-functional teams throughout the New Product Commercialization process.
Requirements:
* 5-8 years of overall work experience.
* 5+ years of experience in a technical role, ideally in Research & Development or Process Development roles.
Education:
* An honours Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Materials/Polymer Science or Engineering (Polymer/Biomedical), Biochemical Engineering, or related discipline is required.
* An understanding of hydrophilic coatings and related technologies would be an advantage.
Specialized Skills:
* Experience with hydrophilic coating technologies, materials science, and surface chemistry.
* Strong initiative and follow-through in executing project responsibilities, overcoming obstacles, and balancing multiple priorities through strong technical and/or project leadership.
* Attention to detail and good understanding of design controls and associated documentation.
* A demonstrated track-record of being part of successful cross-functional technical teams.
* Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and root cause analysis skills.
* The ability to effectively communicate concepts, ideas, and knowledge to all levels of the organisation.
* Demonstrated understanding of various types of manufacturing, mechanisms, materials, tolerance-analysis, and design-for-manufacturing.
