Industrial Hygiene / Environmental / Safety Engineer
Position Summary
The Industrial Hygiene / Environmental / Safety Engineer will support the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of key EHS programmes across the site. This includes ownership of Industrial Hygiene (IH), Environmental, and Safety systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and ISO/OHSAS management systems. The role suits a motivated, detail‑oriented professional with strong analytical skills and experience in regulated environments.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring programmes are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with project and client expectations.
General Responsibilities
Support EHS programme delivery across IH, Environmental, and Safety domains.
Coordinate with project teams, engineers, and site stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to safety, quality, environmental, and compliance standards.
Assist in tracking programme progress and reporting status updates.
Participate in meetings and contribute to successful programme delivery.
Maintain accurate documentation throughout all EHS processes.
Key Technical Responsibilities
Conduct IH risk assessments and perform employee/area exposure monitoring for physical and chemical hazards.
Support IH surveys associated with the Equipment Sign Off (ESO) programme.
Act as subject‑matter expert for assigned IH programmes (e.g., hearing conservation, radiation, PPE, ventilation).
Support accident/incident investigations and root‑cause analysis.
Conduct regular IH audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
Analyse IH data, identify trends, and define focus areas for improvement.
Education & Experience
Minimum NFQ Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline (Environmental Science, Sustainability, Chemical Engineering, EHS, Sciences).
Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in a related field is an advantage.
Preferred Requirements
3+ years’ relevant experience beneficial.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction; strong self‑motivation.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
Knowledge of relevant EHS programmes and regulatory frameworks.
High tolerance for ambiguity and change in a dynamic environment.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities.
Excellent attention to detail.
