Overview
We operate Ireland’s electricity grid and provide 24/7 IT-critical systems, including the Energy Management System (EMS) that supports the Group’s core power system operation and the transition to renewable energy. The team is responsible for development and support of EMS and related applications across Dublin and Belfast, with additional real-time systems for wind forecast safety assessment, scheduling, and unit dispatch.
The Opportunity
In this position you will be part of the IT Operations SCADA team, supporting maintenance, accuracy and resiliency of the EMS and its supporting decision tools. You will provide support to subject matter experts in delivering business-as-usual activity related to application enhancements, vulnerability management and Business Continuity Testing.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the BAU delivery of a rolling programme of change enhancing the Energy Management System.
* Support the PSA team with release management and testing of vulnerability patches.
* Support Integrated Single Electricity Market requirements for EMS, including feeds provision and network model provisioning.
* Support decision support tools for the National Control Centre.
* Support effective stakeholder management of internal and external stakeholders (technical and non-technical), including key external vendors and internal service providers.
* Liaise cross-functionally to support continuous improvement in information sharing, signal list quality and engineering standards.
* Participate in Disaster Recovery drills and contribute to the Group’s Business Continuity Management process.
* Participate in on-call duties when appropriate knowledge of IT systems has been acquired.
About You
* Relevant IT or engineering degree with a minimum of 5+ years direct relevant experience.
* Experience in a secure IT environment and working on critical infrastructure.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to business and technical audiences.
* Experience with MS Office tools (including Excel, MS Project and Visio or equivalent).
