We are seeking an experienced HGV mechanic to join our depot operations team in Kildare.
Responsibilities
Perform high-quality diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
Carry out vehicle inspections and follow up on daily defect reports submitted by drivers, identifying and rectifying non-routine issues in line with manufacturer and technical standards.
Respond to on-site or local breakdowns, troubleshooting faults and restoring equipment to service quickly and safely.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date service, inspection, and maintenance documentation.
Ensure the depot workshop and surrounding areas remain clean, safe, and well-organised.
Identify, report, and help mitigate any safety risks or unsafe practices.
Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, along with RSA and company compliance requirements.
Contribute to the company's Integrated Management System (IMS).
Collaborate closely with the transport team to provide progress updates and ensure vehicles are available to support scheduled collections.
Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, including technicians and apprentices.
The Person
Minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar mechanical role or industry.
National Craft Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (SOLAS) or Advanced Craft Certificate (FETAC Level 6), or an equivalent qualification.
Full Irish Category B driving licence (essential).
Category C or CE licence is an advantage.
Flexible, proactive, and capable of taking part in on-call duties and responding to urgent maintenance requirements.
Must be legally permitted to work in Ireland.
Strong communication skills with good written and spoken English.
