Site Engineer – Dun Laoghaire
A leading construction main contractor is currently seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join their project team based in Dun Laoghaire. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to play a key role in delivering a high-profile project while working with an innovative, quality-driven construction team.
You will oversee key engineering tasks on-site, with a primary focus on accurate setting out, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and maintaining high standards in line with the principles of the Considerate Constructor's Scheme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct accurate setting out activities to support construction operations.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project programmes to ensure precise execution.
- Manage site engineering operations including surveying, levelling, and quality checks.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical support and guidance to site personnel and subcontractors.
- Ensure all works comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation such as as-built records, surveys, and QA reports.
- Assist with project planning, focusing on engineering milestones and setting out tasks.
- Monitor on-site progress and take corrective action where necessary to meet deadlines.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency in site processes.
- Support and mentor junior engineers, encouraging professional development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a site engineering role, with strong setting out skills.
- Proficient in surveying instruments and software – Total Station, GPS, CAD.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, engineering principles, and building regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to interpret programmes, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Full clean driving licence is essential.
Desirable:
- Membership of a professional engineering body (e.g., Engineers Ireland).
- Experience on medium to large-scale construction projects in a senior engineering capacity.
- Familiarity with BIM and digital construction technologies.
