Overview

KOSTAL IRELAND GmbH, is a global manufacturing business which manufactures electronic devices for the automotive industry.With over 700+ highly skilled people on our team here in Ireland, located in Abbeyfeale in Limerick and Mallow in Cork.

Project Title

Integrated Test Failure Analysis and Knowledge Management System

The Co-Op student will design and develop a system that combines automated analysis of production test data with a digital knowledge base of test failures and debugging procedures. This project involves creating a data analysis tool to identify trends, recurring issues, and potential root causes in test yields using variables such as component lots, program versions, and operator information. The results of this analysis will be used to populate and continually update an interactive, searchable knowledge base. This resource will provide Engineers and Operators with actionable insights, detailed failure descriptions, root cause information, and step-by-step troubleshooting guides, all in one accessible platform.

Purpose

To empower the Test Engineering team with a centralized solution that not only accelerates root cause identification and yield improvement through automated data analysis but also standardizes and preserves troubleshooting expertise in a living, accessible knowledge base. This dual functionality enhances both operational efficiency and knowledge transfer within the department.

Key Responsibilities

* Project completion
* Assist engineers in the setup and installation of test equipment in production areas
* Support the development and verification of test programs for new products under guidance
* Help evaluate and maintain test equipment, contributing ideas to improve methods and efficiency
* Assist in implementing new products on various test platforms (ICT, AOI, FLASH, end-of-line functional test, etc.)
* Participate in monitoring and reviewing production yields and identifying potential process improvements
* Support the use of version control software to organize test programs
* Assist in investigating and implementing process optimizations and cycle time improvements

Skills

* Programming and scripting skills (e.g., Visual Basic .NET, Python or similar)
* Familiarity with databases, data analysis, and data visualization tools
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to document troubleshooting processes and findings
* Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with attention to detail
* Basic understanding of electronics manufacturing and test engineering concepts
* Willingness to collaborate with Engineers and Operators for collecting and organizing relevant data and knowledge
* Flexible, adaptable, motivated individual with willingness to learn
* Positive attitude to work and adaptable to change management

Pursuing a Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (NFQ Level 8)
