Cable Technician - Virgin Media

Role Purpose
Your primary focus will be on replacing and/or moving HFC plant elements such as Taps, Splitters, Amplifiers, Line Extenders, etc. This also involves installing network cables on both underground and overhead infrastructure.
Full training is provided. A full driver’s license is required to be considered for this role.

Principal Responsibilities
* Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Health and Safety procedures within your work, ensuring responsibility for yourself and team members.
* Perform rodding & roping using specialised tools on the underground network, including clearing blockages.
* Troubleshoot and repair HFC trunk & distribution RF, AC & DC faults, and basic optical issues.
* Perform routine optical node, RF amplifier, and end-of-line testing and balancing.
* Use plant test equipment such as signal level meters, spectrum analyzers, leakage testing meters, optical meters, and OTDRs.
* Maintain and interpret records of work logs, data recordings, and network design maps.
* Operate communication devices and company vehicles according to policies.
* Use workflow management tools in real time.
* Work towards KPIs set by the client and Actavo.
* Schedule and perform maintenance checks, inspections, and fault rectifications for client applications and devices.
* Promote the client’s brand positively through on-site performance.
