Description
This role is based in the Forward Trading Team within the Yuno finance department.
We are a growing dynamic team of experienced energy market professionals who are responsible for buying and hedging Yuno's wholesale gas and electricity supplies for our customers in Ireland, across a range of time horizons.
This role specifically sits on the Demand side of the team which is responsible for forecasting, analysing, and modelling electricity and gas demand at both a customer and portfolio level on and short-term and long-term basis.
We further support the wider business with customer insights and wholesale regulatory analysis.

The successful candidate will work with the wider forward trading team under the supervision of the demand forecasting manager and head of trading, and will be primarily responsible for leading complex projects related to customer consumption data, supporting and guiding junior team members, and communicating results to line manager and senior management.

Key Responsibilities
Become subject matter expert in energy data
Develop broad understanding of all work streams in the team
Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to junior data analysts
Be a liaison between junior team members and line manager
Lead complex data analysis projects from planning and delegating through to delivery
Help to define standards, processes, and best practices for analysis and reporting
Identify areas for improvement and automation within the team
The role will require a limited amount of out of hours support.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Academic Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Sciences or other Quantitative field.
Desirable:
Masters or PhD
5+ years professional or academic experience in the Energy sector, data engineering, or other quantitative field.
Must have proven experience in being a technical support to junior team members
Ability to take initiative, be proactive, and work-independently is essential
Proven ability to plan projects and manage multiple priorities
Strong data handling and programming skills are essential, particularly in python and excel; additional experience in SQL would be preferred.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who can break down complex information and explain it to senior stakeholders.
Excellent problem solving / creativity skills with an ability to make sense of large amounts of data, from both the top down and bottom up.
Knowledge of Wholesale electricity markets and an understanding of the ISEM would be an advantage.
Should continually challenge own and others work.
Strong attention to detail and the candidate should be able to deliver a high quality of information to a varied audience.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to influence and gain buy-in from peers and management.
Strong team worker with ability to work on own as well under direction from management.
Ability to adapt to varying goals and changes in priority
Industry Experience
The ideal candidate must be highly analytical, technically skilled, and have experience in leading junior team members.
Experience in the energy industry such as demand forecasting, Grid, or Market modelling would be an advantage.
Knowledge of data analysis methods and proficiency in programming languages such as python are essential.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who can clearly explain complex information to key stakeholders.
