* Lead and manage a team of estimators, providing guidance and support throughout the estimation process.
* Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documentation.
* Analyse project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work, materials required, and labour costs involved.
* Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates, taking into account factors such as labour, equipment, materials, subcontractor quotes, permits, and other project-related expenses.
* Utilise cost estimation software, tools, and databases to streamline the estimation process and enhance accuracy.
* Evaluate and review subcontractor and supplier bids and proposals, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budgetary constraints.
* Conduct thorough cost and risk analysis, identifying potential issues and providing recommendations for value engineering
* Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including detailed cost breakdowns, project schedules, and other supporting documentation.
* Present cost estimates and proposals to clients, stakeholders, and management, addressing any questions or concerns.
* Participate in project kickoff meetings and provide ongoing support to project teams throughout the construction phase.
* Monitor and track project costs, identifying any deviations from the original estimates and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
* Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies related to cost estimation in the construction field.
* Mentor and train junior estimators, fostering their professional development and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Person Specification:
1. Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
2. Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and methods.
3. Detailed knowledge of building envelope construction: roofing, cladding, facades, curtain walling and doors
4. Proficiency in cost estimation techniques, including quantity take-off, pricing, and cost analysis.
5. Exceptional commercial awareness
6. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
7. Advanced understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
8. Familiarity with construction software and estimation tools, such as computer-aided design (CAD), software and estimating software.
9. Ability to interpret and analyse complex project plans, contracts, and technical documents.
10. Ability to use and navigate 3d models / BIM
11. Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
12. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
