Requirements
10+ years in engineering leadership, including at least 5 years leading directors/managers in a multi‑disciplinary technology organisation
Proven experience overseeing software, network, and/or telecom platform engineering at scale
Deep understanding of cloud architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP), distributed systems, and reliability engineering
Strong expertise in telecom/IoT domains such as eSIM, core network technologies, or large‑scale connectivity platforms
Demonstrated success running large engineering organisations (25+ people) with complex delivery portfolios
Exceptional executive communication skills, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional leadership
Experience leading transformation or large‑scale modernisation initiatives
(Desirable) Experience in automotive, IoT connectivity, or global telecom environments
(Desirable) Knowledge of 4G/5G core network components, SIM/eSIM technologies, and connectivity lifecycle management
(Desirable) Familiarity with high‑availability architectures, Kubernetes, microservices, and CI/CD automation
(Desirable) Background in data analytics, telemetry systems, or connected intelligence platforms
(Desirable) PhD/M.Sc in Computer Science or Advanced degree an advantage

We are seeking a visionary Director of Engineering to lead Cubic³’s full Engineering organisation across Software Development and SIM Systems, driving the technical excellence, scalability, and reliability of all our platforms and products

The Director of Engineering is accountable for Cubic³’s entire engineering output, maturity, and long‑term technology direction
You will lead a multi‑disciplinary organisation including Software Engineering, Platform/SRE, SIM Technology and QA/Automation ensuring that Cubic³ continues to deliver world‑class, highly available, secure, compliant, and innovative solutions
You will partner closely with Product, Operations, IT, Commercial, and the Executive Leadership Team to define technology strategy, align on business priorities, and drive Cubic³’s roadmap across all customer segments
You will also be a key voice in shaping Cubic³’s platform evolution, SIM innovation, cloud‑native architectures, and the next generation of connected intelligence services
This is a senior leadership role responsible for organisational scale, engineering effectiveness, and the reliability of platforms used by global automotive OEMs and Tier‑1 partners
Define and own Cubic³’s Engineering vision, strategy, and long‑term technology roadmap across software, network, and SIM domains
Lead a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary engineering organisation with clear structures, succession pipelines, and leadership development
Work with the ELT to set business priorities, investment decisions, and multi‑year strategic plans
Champion engineering excellence, scalability, automation, and performance across all systems
Oversee architectural direction for Cubic³’s core platforms, cloud services, and data systems
Ensure robust engineering governance across security, compliance, quality, and operational readiness
Drive modernisation initiatives such as cloud‑native transformation, network virtualisation, microservices evolution, and advanced automation
Ensure on‑time, high‑quality delivery of major engineering programmes and customer commitments
Own global platform performance, availability, reliability, and scalability in partnership with SRE and Network teams
Oversee SIM lifecycle management, ensuring world‑class resilience and compliance with telecom standards
Establish KPIs and engineering metrics across cycle time, quality, reliability, and operational health
Foster a culture of innovation, empowerment, accountability, and continuous improvement
Build and grow engineering leadership talent, ensuring strong management capability across all domains
Promote cross‑functional collaboration and transparent communication
Act as the executive engineering representative with key customers, partners, and stakeholders
Support commercial teams in pre‑sales and strategic customer engagements
Ensure alignment between Product, Engineering, and Operations for efficient delivery and lifecycle management
