The role
Seasonal Ecologist – Summer Season
Jacobs invites motivated individuals to join our Ecology team for a zero‑hour summer placement. Work alongside experienced survey leads, bat specialists, ornithologists, botanists and protected species experts on infrastructure and environmental projects across Ireland.
Responsibilities
Support ecological teams on a variety of projects
Assist with field surveys, data collection and monitoring activities
Contribute to survey planning and logistics
Produce high‑quality ecological data and deliverables
Assist with technical reporting
Qualifications
A degree in ecology or a related discipline
Motivated, proactive and enthusiastic about a career in ecology
Eligible or working towards CIEEM membership
Organised, dependable and strong time‑management skills
Comfortable working as part of a team and in the field
Willing to travel and stay away from home (up to 4 nights per week during peak survey periods)
Previous experience in ecological surveys or fieldwork
Experience or interest in bat or ornithology surveys (highly valued)
A full driving licence
