Purpose of the Role
The TUH Dietetics Department provides services to patients discharged to off‑site locations. Two senior Dietitians are required to support these locations. One will operate in Tymon North, where MDT services are well established, and the other will establish and deliver Dietetic services in a new Clondalkin location for patients transferred from TUH.
Overview of Role
The senior Dietitians will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and expedite patient discharges, working closely with their Dietitian colleagues in TUH on transfer and delivery of patient care.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients transferred from TUH
Map service provision in collaboration with Dietitian managers
Develop and implement protocols for nutritional screening, referral, assessment, and intervention
Monitor and evaluate service provision and report on outcomes periodically
Provide expert nutritional advice to the multidisciplinary team and actively engage in ward rounds, conferences, lunch meetings, and grand rounds
Record statistical information and produce required reports
Supervise and support junior staff members and Dietetic assistants, where relevant
Attend departmental meetings at TUH regularly
Participate in the clinical training of Student Dietitians on placement at TUH
Contribute to the Department’s upskilling programme for Dietitians across specialties
Be responsible for own professional development and keep abreast of developments in Nutrition and Dietetics
Contribute to the enhancement of clinical practice through quality improvement initiatives, audit, and research
Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards and policies relating to the Nutrition & Dietetic service
Carry out other duties appropriate to the post, as may be assigned by the Manager of Nutrition & Dietetics
Qualifications & Experience Required
Registered as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU, with proof of statutory registration
At least 3 years full‑time (or equivalent) post‑qualification clinical dietetic experience
Proficiency in the provision of artificial nutrition support (Enteral and Parenteral)
Experience in discharging patients from hospital on artificial nutrition support
Desirable
Member of the Irish Nutrition & Dietetic Institute
Full clean driver's licence
Experience supervising junior Dietitians, students, and/or therapy assistants
Recent relevant experience in a similar acute hospital setting
Evidence of service development or quality improvement experience
Recent evidence of continuing professional development

Remuneration according to the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, grade code 3395
Full‑time, pensionable, and permanent appointment
Annual leave entitlement of 29 working days per year (leave year: 1 April – 31 March)
Normal working hours: 35 hours over 5 days, with possible variation between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. over 7 days for extended day services
