We currently recruiting an Electrical Quality Engineer to work on a Data Centre construction project adjacent to a power plant.
Role Overview:
The Electrical Quality Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with quality standards during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases of a 220kV substation project. This role involves close coordination with site teams, contractors, and client representatives to verify that all electrical works meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Control:
Implement and maintain the project’s Quality Management System (QMS) for electrical works.
Review and approve electrical installation procedures, inspection test plans (ITPs), and method statements.
Conduct inspections and audits on electrical equipment, cabling, terminations, and protection systems.
Monitoring & Reporting:
Track construction progress and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
Monitor installation and commissioning activities for transformers, switchgear, protection panels, and control systems.
Prepare daily/weekly quality reports and maintain NCR (Non-Conformance Report) logs.
Witness and verify electrical tests such as insulation resistance, high-voltage tests, relay settings, and functional checks.
Ensure proper documentation of test results and commissioning records.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure adherence to IEC, IEEE, and local regulatory standards for high-voltage installations.
Verify contractor compliance with safety and quality requirements during all phases.
Coordination:
Liaise with design teams, contractors, and client representatives to resolve quality-related issues.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for any quality deviations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical quality assurance for high-voltage substation projects.
Strong knowledge of 220kV systems, protection schemes, and commissioning procedures.
Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE) and local regulations.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
Additional Requirements:
Certification in Quality Management (ISO 9001) is an advantage.
Experience with SCADA and control systems preferred.
Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
