Accounts Payable Lead at Uisce Éireann Irish Water – responsible for leading and delivering day‑to‑day accounts payable activities, ensuring accurate production of financial records and reinforcing internal control systems.
The Role
The Transaction Services teams provide effective support to the Uisce Eireann business in finance, HR and procurement transactional activities. The Accounts Payable Lead reports to the Finance Transaction Services Manager – Supply Chain and Accounts Payable and leads the AP team with emphasis on efficiency, controls and compliance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead the AP Team in executing accounts payable processes and related procedures.
* Promote and ensure AP processes adhere to relevant policies and procedures from a compliance perspective.
* Manage creditor reconciliation for Uisce Éireann suppliers to agreed timelines and in accordance with policies.
* Prepare Uisce Éireann payment files, ensuring appropriate approvals and compliance with policies.
* Maintain vendor master data through agreed processes, including sign-off and processing of all changes.
* Handle exception processing (e.g., purchase order compliance, variances) and route to appropriate contacts for resolution.
* Review correspondence to suppliers as required.
* Provide internal controls in AP processes and adherence to financial controls to ensure accurate records.
* Provide cash‑flow forecasting of payments to Treasury for cash‑flow management.
* Implement fraud detection and prevention processes, continually reviewing and improving practices.
* Compile data and reports for internal and external audits, responding to related queries.
* Manage team resources, ensuring adequate capacity and skill mix to meet business requirements.
* Act as escalation point for management within the area.
* Support the Finance Transactional Services Manager in driving efficiency, standardisation and improvement within AP processes.
* Seek opportunities for continuous improvement and implementation of best practices.
* Other duties as required.

* Support delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme.
* Provide visible leadership and coach the team to achieve objectives.

* Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Relevant third level qualification or accreditation is desirable.
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industry (or relevant experience).
* Demonstrated people‑management experience with strong change management and conflict resolution skills.
* Experience coaching development of technical skills in others.
* Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and delivering results.
* Strong analytical skills to identify problems, propose solutions and implement improvements.
* Adaptability and ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy.
* Proactively identifies new areas of improvement.
