Graphics Firmware Engineer - Cork, Ireland

Overview

Qualcomm’s GPUs Command Processor team is responsible for designing the GPU controller which takes command streams from the Graphics Driver and configures and commands the GPU to render graphics. As a member of our team, you will work closely with architects, designers, verification, software and uCode engineers, developing the uCode that drives one of several proprietary RISC processors in the system. Your development platform will primarily exist in an RTL simulation environment, so you must be comfortable interpreting waveforms, analyzing RTL and formulating proposals for RTL‑based improvements.

In this position, you will also be responsible for providing debug support from pre‑through post‑silicon, finding root‑cause of bugs and proposing uCode workarounds. We are looking for highly motivated engineers that enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment.


Responsibilities

* Develop uCode for proprietary RISC processors in the GPU Command Processor.
* Provide debug support from pre‑through post‑silicon and root‑cause analysis of bugs.
* Interpret waveforms in Verdi and analyze RTL to understand problems and suggest RTL‑based improvements.
* Collaborate with architects, designers, verification, software and uCode engineers.


Required Experience

* Experience programming in Assembly Language.
* Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog.
* Post‑silicon enablement and bring‑up.
* Emulation environments for development and debug.
* Debugging low‑level software, logic, and electrical issues.
* Debug tools including JTAG and kernel debuggers.
* GPU and SoC architectures.
* At least 5 years of relevant industry experience.


Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Perl or Python.
* Experience with Makefiles.


Education Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
* Master’s degree preferred.
