Our client is seeking an experienced New Business Manager to lead and develop a high-performing wholesale team focused on driving sustainable revenue growth and strengthening wholesale market performance.
This role combines leadership, sales management, market engagement, and operational oversight. The successful individual will be responsible for delivering new business targets, improving trading outcomes, embedding sales discipline, and creating scalable processes that support long-term growth.
The position suits a commercially driven insurance professional who thrives in a target-focused environment and enjoys building high-performing teams while maintaining strong broker and insurer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, motivate, and develop a wholesale new business team to deliver agreed monthly and annual revenue targets.
Take ownership of the end-to-end wholesale new business pipeline from opportunity generation through to bind and handover.
Drive conversion performance through structured sales management, coaching, and performance oversight.
Create clear accountability around activity levels, targets, forecasting, and delivery outcomes.
Establish and embed strong sales operating rhythms including pipeline reviews, forecasting meetings, and conversion analysis.
Ensure pipeline quality, visibility, and reporting accuracy across all wholesale opportunities.
Manage and develop wholesale opportunities through disciplined funnel management from prospect through to placement.
Identify bottlenecks, trading challenges, and opportunities to improve conversion rates and trading velocity.
Use performance data and market insight to support decision making and resource planning.
Continuously improve the broker experience for wholesale trading partners.
Maintain consistency, responsiveness, and high service standards across broker engagement activity.
Act as a senior escalation point where required to support positive commercial outcomes.
Strengthen market reputation through high-quality trading standards and strong broker relationships.
Drive improvements in trading effectiveness across both local and London Market placements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with underwriters, insurer partners, capacity providers, and London market stakeholders.
Develop placement strategies that balance speed, pricing, coverage quality, and sustainability.
Share market intelligence, appetite changes, and trading insights across the wider business.
Develop technical, behavioural, and commercial capability across the team.
Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, development, and continuous improvement.
Support succession planning, career development, and talent growth across the wholesale function.
Identify opportunities to improve workflows, operational processes, and trading effectiveness.
Work closely with Operations, Compliance, and Finance teams to support scalable business growth.
Ensure delivery aligns with broader business objectives and annual growth plans.
Contribute to wider leadership discussions and wholesale strategy initiatives where required.
Candidate Profile
Proven leadership experience managing trading teams, new business teams, or wholesale insurance operations.
CIP qualification required. Progression towards MDI or ACII would be advantageous.
Minimum eight years' experience within commercial broking, wholesale broking, underwriting, or trading environments.
Demonstrated success delivering new business growth and managing high-performing sales pipelines.
Experience operating across UK markets would be advantageous.
Strong understanding of the Irish broker and insurer landscape, market dynamics, and industry developments.
Excellent technical insurance knowledge across commercial products and placement strategies.
Experience working with London Market capacity placement environments.
Strong commercial awareness combined with data-driven decision-making capability.
Experience building, leading, and developing high-performing teams through coaching and performance management.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability.
Experience using broking systems and reporting tools. Exposure to Acturis, Power BI, and management reporting platforms would be advantageous.
Comfortable operating within a fast-paced, target-driven environment with strong attention to execution and delivery.
