The Arklow Bay Hotel is a well-established 4-star hotel located in the picturesque seaside town of Arklow, Co. Wicklow, in Ireland's scenic Garden County. Centrally positioned with excellent rail and bus links, and just off the N11 motorway, the hotel is easily accessible from both Dublin and Wexford.
Nestled between a protected nature reserve and the Irish Sea, the hotel features 91 elegant bedrooms, extensive Conference & Banqueting facilities for up to 450 guests, The Pottery Restaurant, Ferrybank Lounge, and a fully equipped Bay Health & Leisure Club with pool, spa, and gym.
We are now seeking a reliable and proactive Night Porter to join our night team and help maintain the smooth operation of the hotel overnight.
The Role
As Night Porter, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our guests during the overnight hours. You will assist with front-of-house duties, support the Night Manager, and ensure all public areas are clean, secure, and ready for the following day.
This role is ideal for a responsible, proactive individual who enjoys working independently and providing exceptional guest service.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a friendly and professional point of contact for guests during night hours
* Support the Night Manager with operational duties, including guest enquiries and requests
* Carry out security and safety checks, including fire walks and CCTV monitoring
* Maintain cleanliness and presentation of public areas, corridors, and entrances
* Assist with room inspections, luggage handling, and guest arrivals/departures as required
* Support meeting and event room setups or breakdowns overnight
* Respond promptly and professionally to any incidents, maintenance issues, or guest feedback
* Ensure smooth handover to day staff with clear notes and reports
* Maintain logbooks and records of all relevant activity during the shift
Requirements
* Previous experience in a hotel porter, front office, or night role preferred
* Excellent guest service and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and confidently overnight
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail
* Awareness of health & safety, security, and emergency procedures
* Professional, approachable, and reliable
* Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and bank holidays as required
