About the post: The objective of the post is to provide full administrative support to the Department of General Practice, the Masters of Science in Health Care Ethics and Law programme and to contribute to its development and provide administrative support to the bi-annual short course in health research methods.
Specifically, the duties of the post are: Provide administration support to the Department of General Practice.
Assist in co-ordination of Senior Cycle 1 GP Rotations which include: Liaising with GP tutors Co-ordinating student placements with GP tutors and SARA.
Updating student rotation information on Moodle.
Assist in the delivery of student assessment and collation of student results.
Assist Senior Cycle 1 students attending department teaching sessions to ensure optimum achievement.
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with all teachings practices associated with the department.
Organize and administer the annual training workshops for GP tutors.
Assisting in the preparation and delivery of other courses and programmes as required including the bi-annual research methods short courses for the MCh in Surgery students.
Assisting in the preparation and delivery of the Year /IPCP programmes when required.
Scheduling, attending and collating meetings minutes as required.
Liaising and providing information to all internal and external stakeholders as required.
Provide end to end administrative support for the MSc Healthcare Ethics & Law programme: student application process, registration, fee collection, examinations, VLE/Moodle, lecture payments & travel arrangements.
In addition, provide administration support to the Professor of Medical Ethics in delivering the Medical Ethics programme in the undergraduate medical curriculum and providing administrative support to students pursuing a PhD.
Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules, requirements in furtherance of your own, general staff welfare, and safety.
Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required from time to time.
Representing the best interests of the Department /RCSI at all times.
Performing such other duties as may be required Knowledge & Experience: Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to focus on and produce results and prioritise objectives.
Proficiency in computer skills including MS Office Suite and word processing skills.
Experience using Quercus and Moodle would be an advantage.
An effective communication style appropriate to audience and situation.
Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines.
The ability to work on one's own initiative as well as in a team environment.
Flexibility to work irregular hours on occasion.
Experience and a proven track record in a similar role would be an advantage.
