The Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting the Business Unit / Department with day-to‑day automation issues to ensure successful delivery of the planned production schedule. The primary focus of this role is to provide hands‑on automation support across all shifts, working closely with Senior Automation Engineers on complex issues and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day-to‑day automation support to ensure the successful execution of the production schedule.
* The role will be based on 3rd shift (00:00am to 08:00) @ 33%, with cover support for weekend callouts.
* Implement improvements to equipment and procedures used in the manufacturing process.
* Lead small automation projects aimed at process optimization within the unit.
* Support the automation design elements of capital expenditure projects.
* Assist with installation and commissioning of automated equipment onsite.
* Collaborate within technical forums focused on problem‑solving for product manufacture, aseptic fill, and packaging processes.
* Work closely with IT (BTS) and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot automation and system issues.
* Provide off‑shift and weekend support as required according to a rotation schedule.
Administration
* Attend twice‑weekly Tier 2 departmental meetings.
* Participate in external meetings as required.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IT, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
* 1‑3 years of experience supporting automation control systems and client/server architectures.
* Strong understanding of basic networking concepts.
* Hands‑on experience with Siemens and Rockwell (Allen Bradley) PLC control systems.
* Familiarity with SCADA systems, including Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens WinCC, iFix, and Wonderware.
