Description
The HSE South West Health Region manages and delivers public health and social care services for Cork & Kerry, serving over 700,000 people. It includes hospital groups and community healthcare services focused on integrated, accessible, and locally delivered care, with pathways connecting hospitals, community, primary care, and voluntary sectors.
The region comprises:
* South/South West Hospital Group (S/SWHG): five statutory hospitals and two voluntary hospitals.
Hospitals include:
* Bantry General Hospital
* Cork University Hospital
* Cork University Maternity Hospital
* Mallow General Hospital
* University Hospital Kerry
Community Healthcare Services focus on health promotion, disease screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, supporting persons to live independently. These services include Primary Care, Older Persons, Disabilities, Quality & Patient Safety, and Health & Wellbeing.
The role of the National HSCP Office is to lead and support the 26 Health and Social Care Professions (HSCP) to maximize their impact through strategic planning, management, and delivery of integrated, person-centred care across all regions.
HSCP professionals are highly educated and diverse, providing vital interventions across various settings, including acute, community, disability, mental health, primary care, and residential services. The workforce comprises 18,723 professionals, representing 25% of the clinical workforce and 14% of the total health services workforce.
