Responsibilities
* Tooling, Development, and Code Optimization: Create and maintain operations, runbooks, workflows, and self-remediation tools. Write, enhance, and streamline code for managing and automating optical networks, emphasizing scalability and efficiency for AI networks.
* Automation: Develop software solutions to automate operational processes and explore innovative approaches to reduce manual effort through AI and software solutions.
* Incident Management: Be part of the Optical operational on-call rotation following the "follow the sun" model to maintain high network availability, swiftly addressing and resolving incidents as they arise.
* Telemetry, Data Analysis, and Success Metrics: Monitor AI-optimized optical network telemetry and use data analytics to identify issues and improve products and services. Develop tools for automatic problem resolution and continuous network improvement. Establish and track metrics to continuously improve network availability and performance.
* Design and Engineer Solutions: Develop and implement scalable network solutions to meet the growing demands of our infrastructure.
* Continuous Improvement and Trend Adaptation: Keep up with optical networking and AI advancements. Incorporate new knowledge and technologies to enhance the performance and reliability of AI-optimized optical networks.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* 5+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation
* OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years of relevant experience
* OR Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year of relevant experience
Other Requirements:
* Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 8+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation
* OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years of relevant experience
* OR Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years of relevant experience
* Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
* Experience with coding languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, SQL, or RUST is preferred.
* 5+ years of experience with optical transceiver design, validation, and testing using coherent, direct-detection, and WDM technologies.
* Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, team orientation, customer-first mentality, and adaptability.
