Electrical Maintenance Technician
Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical trade certification, with a solid understanding of electrical regulations and standards. They will also possess broad knowledge of general building maintenance, with a focus on mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out routine inspections, readings, and maintenance operations.
2. Help and oversee subcontractors with maintenance projects.
3. Perform minor maintenance and repairs related to the established services.
4. Perform necessary maintenance and repairs on the building fabric.
5. Effective handling of service enquiries that the help desk generates.
6. Support and improve service delivery by utilising site systems and equipment efficiently and according to best practices.
7. As needed, draft method statements and risk analyses.
8. Through audits and prompt part purchase, they maintain and assess stock levels and spare parts requirements.
9. Assess the personal risks associated with maintenance and repair tasks.
10. Finish service reports and enter data into the CMMS system.
11. Ascertain that every task is completed safely and in compliance with client procedures.
Requirements:
1. Recognised electrical trade certification (equivalent to National Craft Certificate – Junior & Senior Trades).
2. Solid understanding of electrical regulations and standards, including systems such as fire alarms, access control, building management systems (BMS), HVAC, and refrigeration.
3. Broad knowledge of general building maintenance, with a focus on mechanical systems.
4. Proven experience working with electrical supply and distribution systems, including low, medium, and high voltage.
5. Formal training in low and high voltage systems, ideally to a City & Guilds or equivalent standard.
6. Practical experience in LV and HV switching operations is highly desirable.
7. Familiarity with thermographic inspection techniques.
8. Competence in portable appliance testing (PAT).
9. Training in permit-to-work systems and safety protocols.
