The team and the opportunity
To continue the successful growth of our client’s Infrastructure & Capital Projects team within their large Consulting practice, we are looking for experienced and motivated Project Controls Specialists with a background in delivering complex, High‑Value Capital Programmes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Project Controls within the Infrastructure Sector, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with quality and governance requirements. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical capability, and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
Their Infrastructure & Capital Projects team sits within the Transformation Delivery competency of the Irish Consulting practice. Their team is committed to delivering exceptional client services across a range of sectors including Energy, Utilities, Transport, Water, Gas, Telecoms, Housing, and Healthcare.
Our ambition is to become the Trusted Advisor for our clients in the Procurement, Construction, and Operational Phases of Major Capital Programmes by leveraging: Their people and their extensive industry experience. Existing partnerships and relationships. Their global experience across the Infrastructure & Capital projects lifecycle.
Your key responsibilities
To support the continued growth of their business, they are currently recruiting Project Controls Specialists with an Engineering, Technical, or Construction-related background.
Work directly with their infrastructure clients across our focus sectors (Energy, Water, Transport, Gas, Telecoms, Housing and Healthcare) to develop innovative insights and solutions to meet their needs.
Develop and implement Project Control processes and procedures to effectively manage Scope, Schedule, Cost, and Quality.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Contractors, and other stakeholders to establish project baselines and monitor performance against established metrics.
Create and maintain detailed Project Schedules, including Critical Path Analysis and resource allocation, to optimise project timelines and identify potential risks and opportunities.
Monitor Project Costs and expenditures, track budget variances, and provide timely analysis and reporting to support informed decision‑making.
Identify and mitigate Project Risks through proactive risk assessment, analysis, and mitigation strategies.
Lead or support regular progress meetings and presentations to update Project Stakeholders on project status, key milestones, and performance metrics.
Utilise Project Management Systems and tools to enhance Project Controls Processes and enhance project visibility and transparency.
Provide Mentorship and guidance to Junior Project Controls staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
Support the preparation of Project Proposals, Bids, and Cost Estimates by providing accurate and reliable Project Controls Data and Analysis.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry Standards, Regulations, and Best Practices in Project Controls and Management.
Internal Responsibilities
Support Client Account Management activities, including Project Resourcing, Financial Management, and Quality and Risk Management.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and their colleagues to support business develop.
Communicate effectively with Senior Management and support the development, management and motivation of high‑performing teams.
Develop a strong understanding of their services offerings and proactively identify opportunities to enhance client value.
Support team development activities, including: Coaching, and mentoring. Conducting performance reviews and contributing to feedback. Supporting recruitment, retention and training initiatives. Maintaining continuous technical and professional development.
Understanding, applying, and communicating workplace policies and procedures
To qualify for the role, you must have:
3rd level educational qualification in Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Controls or Project Management within the Infrastructure sector, with a proven track record of Supporting Or Managing Large-Scale Programmes.
Realize a consulting or similar client facing role.
Multidisciplinary experience including Project Management and Engineering Feasibility and Design.
Excellent Stakeholder Management and communication skills with a track record in Managing Complex Programmes.
Strong Analytical and Problem‑Solving skills, with the ability to Analyse Complex Data Sets and develop actionable insights.
Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated Leadership Capability with a proactive, delivery‑focused approach.
Knowledge of industry‑specific regulations, standards, and best practices in Infrastructure Development and Construction.
Additional professional qualifications, such as PRINCE2 or PMP, are desirable.
