Senior Design Engineering Manager, Software Engineering

Job Summary
The Senior Design Engineering Manager leads a multi‑disciplinary engineering organization responsible for product design, requirements engineering, and design excellence across global programs focused on payment terminals and payment solutions. This role oversees people’s leadership, project execution, and continuous improvement to ensure Jabil delivers high‑quality, scalable, and innovative solutions for global customers.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Management Responsibilities
Engineering Execution
Direct design and development activities for embedded systems, regulated products, and complex multisite programs.
Oversee key projects, KPIs, engineering reviews, and performance dashboards in partnership with PMO.
Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies and define adoption strategies.
Drive design quality improvements through automation, CI/CD, scalability initiatives, and maturity frameworks (CMMI L2/L3).
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement
Implement best practices for multisite engineering collaboration.
Manage engineering workload, heatmaps, and conflict resolution across global teams.
Enhance engineering processes to improve efficiency, predictability, and quality.
Leadership & People Management
Recruit, develop, and mentor engineering talent.
Build strong pipelines for succession and technical leadership.
Set clear goals, manage performance, and drive continuous improvement.
Foster open communication, collaboration, and a high‑engagement culture.
Team & Talent Development
Assess individual and team strengths, development needs, and growth opportunities.
Coach and mentor engineers and technical leaders to deliver excellence.
Build succession plans and ensure strong leadership pipelines in design engineering.
Performance Management
Set clear, measurable goals aligned with operational metrics and project milestones.
Provide ongoing feedback from peers, customers, and cross‑functional partners.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline.
Communication
Create transparent communication channels within the engineering team.
Tailor communication to different audiences and foster collaboration.
Functional Management Responsibilities
Business Strategy & Alignment
Support the Workcell strategy by enabling Design Services capabilities and scalability.
Provide regular updates to the Director of Design Services and PMO organization on progress, risks, and opportunities.
Cost & Resource Management
Optimize engineering costs through process improvement, automation, and workload balancing.
Monitor departmental budgets, trends, and resource allocation.
Partner with Program Management and Finance to track forecast vs. actual performance.
Forecast Accuracy
Prepare timely and accurate P&L forecasting for engineering activities.
Compare forecasts to historical data to identify trends and corrective actions.
Qualifications required
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Polytechnics or related field.
Minimum 10 years of senior technical or engineering management experience.
Strong background in embedded software engineering and regulated industries.
Proven experience leading global, multisite engineering teams and customer engagements.
Demonstrated success in process transformation, automation, CI/CD, and scaling engineering organizations.
Expertise in agile development methodologies and industry-standard engineering tools.
Excellent communication skills in English; French strongly preferred.
Preferred
Experience building engineering proposals and formal Statements of Work (SOWs).
Background in software engineering for regulated sectors
Experience in payment product design is considered a plus – knowledgeable of EMV L1, L2, L3, PCI PTC / MPOC
Experience managing large global design programs.
Mandarin language skills are a plus.

This position is based in Paris, France.
Travel expected up to 20%, depending on program and customer needs.
