Job Title: NPD Technologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and creative NPD Technologist to join a fast-growing food production business renowned for high-quality preserves, sauces, and condiments. This role is key to supporting the continued growth and innovation of the product portfolio across a range of sweet and savoury categories.
Role Purpose:
To create and develop innovative, great-tasting recipes for a variety of product ranges including sweet preserves, chutneys, sauces, and condiments — from concept through to launch.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the NPD Manager in delivering product development projects to agreed timelines and specifications.
* Develop and refine recipes for new and existing products, ensuring consistent quality and taste.
* Prepare and present samples for internal review and customer feedback.
* Conduct organoleptic and analytical testing of products.
* Maintain full documentation throughout the development process, following established NPD procedures.
* Manage new product development through stage gate processes, from concept to production integration.
* Oversee early production runs to ensure product quality meets expectations.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (technical, production, operations, commercial) and engage with customers on NPD and EPD projects.
* Write product specifications and ensure compliance with relevant food and labelling legislation.
* Contribute to team NPD meetings and innovation sessions.
* Monitor food trends and emerging innovations, sharing insights with the wider team.
* Maintain NPD lab hygiene and ensure adequate stock of ingredients and packaging.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in food product development, from concept to launch.
* Strong knowledge of the NPD process and quality standards, including familiarity with BRC requirements.
* Practical experience in preparing samples and conducting product trials.
* A genuine passion for food, flavour development, and product innovation.
* Excellent attention to detail and project management skills.
* Confident communicator with strong collaboration abilities.
* Experience with recipe and specification writing (desirable).
* HACCP training (desirable).
