Support Worker

Location: Roscommon Town Adult Services (Kilkerrin, Athleague, Tremane, etc.). Initially based in Kilkerrin Services, Co. Galway. Staff allocation may be in residential, respite, day settings, community services or in an individual’s own home. The work location may change due to future service needs.
Role
The Support Worker is responsible for supporting individuals in all aspects of daily living, focusing on their ability and promoting independence and skill development. You will help people achieve personal outcomes and participate in the everyday life of the community. This includes all aspects of personal care during the day – meals, household tasks, personal and intimate care, and related physical well‑being.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities.
* Assist with meal preparation, feeding and toileting.
* Support independence in residential, respite and community settings.
* Promote personal development and inclusion in community activities.
* Maintain accurate and timely records of care activities.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
* General education; a recognised qualification in intellectual disability or a FETAC Level 5 course is an advantage.
* QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable.
* Full clean manual driving licence (Class D1 if not already held) is required.
* Experience with people with intellectual disability, autism or complex needs is desirable.
* Team‑working skills, flexibility, patience and a sense of humour.
* Fluency in spoken and written English; proficiency in IT skills.
Working Hours
* 2 permanent full‑time posts: 78 hours a fortnight.
* All posts are on a 14‑day duty roster with flexible hours, weekend work, split duties, public holidays, evening/night duty and sleep‑ins as required.
Annual Leave
22 days per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time). 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked.
Remuneration
Department of Health salary scales apply as at 01/08/2025: €34,036 × 11 increments – €46,652 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time). A Long Service Increment €47,454 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time) is payable after 3 years at the maximum of the scale. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays, sleep‑ins and night‑duty when worked.
Tenure
Permanent appointments may be offered through a panel over the next 6 to 12 months.
