Job Overview Summary

The Senior Scrum Master II serves as a strategic delivery leader and recognized expert in Agile systems delivery across Advarra’s clinical research technology portfolio. This role blends advanced Agile delivery expertise with deep domain understanding of software engineering, product strategy, operations, and compliance. Operating with broad autonomy, the Senior Scrum Master II drives technical delivery excellence, lifecycle health, and organizational maturity, ensuring scalable, sustainable, and high‑performing systems that advance clinical research outcomes.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

* Lead and architect delivery across multiple complex programs, coordinating multiple cross‑functional Scrum and Kanban teams. Ensure architectural alignment, cross‑team integration, and system‑level visibility into dependencies, risks, and delivery health.
* Partner strategically with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, and stakeholders to ensure priorities are aligned, dependencies are visible, and delivery practices steadily mature through thoughtful, well‑grounded Agile guidance.
* Elevate delivery maturity by refining team processes, metrics, and rituals to strengthen flow, predictability, and continuous improvement. Actively engage in the software development process to guide Agile practice, surface and mitigate risks, and support effective issue resolution. Own the health and scalability of delivery systems and frameworks, ensuring they enable innovation, sustainable velocity, and long‑term maintainability across the software lifecycle.
* Drive the effective execution of Agile Scrum processes, ensuring high‑quality sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives that keep teams aligned, focused, and continuously improving. Guide the Product & Technology organization in Agile excellence, facilitating effective sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives while fostering data‑driven decision‑making. Foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and transparency within the Scrum team and across the organization.
* Act as a delivery guardian, ensuring scope, schedule, and quality expectations are met through proactive risk management, clear communication, and steady alignment with product and engineering priorities. Anticipate and untangle delivery challenges by connecting inputs from product strategy, engineering considerations, and operational constraints to keep work moving in the right direction.
* Mentor and develop Junior Scrum Masters, setting standards for agile excellence, cross‑functional collaboration, and organizational learning.
* Champion measurable improvement by using delivery and health metrics to inform retrospectives, forecast capacity, and strengthen planning accuracy. Foster a culture of systems thinking and continuous refinement, helping teams adopt effective practices that improve delivery flow, increase risk visibility, and support stronger stakeholder alignment.
* Drive thought leadership across the Agile discipline, contributing to intellectual property, process frameworks, internal workshops, and best‑practice playbooks that elevate the organization’s technical delivery maturity.


Location

This role is open to candidates working remotely in Ireland.


Basic Qualifications

* 10+ years of experience as an Agile Project Manager/Scrum Master in a software development environment.
* 3+ years of experience guiding Agile delivery in complex, multi‑team environments with interconnected priorities and dependencies.
* Experience with project management tools such as JIRA or Trello.
* Professionally validated deep understanding of Agile development methodologies and Scrum framework.


Preferred Qualifications

* Specific experience in clinical research or medical education.
* Demonstrated experience mentoring other Scrum Masters and engineers to elevate organizational delivery capability.
* Experience with project management with multi‑disciplinary teams.
* Data analytics experience.
* Demonstrated excellence in communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Validated professional experience working effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
* Demonstrated strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with a proven ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions using data, metrics, and forecasting to drive tactical delivery decisions.
* Documented analytical mindset with experience using metrics and insights to drive delivery improvement.
* Demonstrated ability to balance strategic perspective with operational excellence, driving clarity and focus across competing priorities.
* Proven track record of delivering complex, multi‑team software projects in a fast‑moving, cross‑functional environment.


Physical and Mental Requirements

* Sit or stand for extended periods of time at stationary workstation.
* Regularly carry, raise, and lower objects of up to 10 lbs.
* Learn and comprehend basic instructions.
* Focus and attention to tasks and responsibilities.
* Verbal communication; listening and understanding, responding, and speaking.
