Lead Electrical Engineer – Cork
Lead Group Ireland are currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer with strong design experience for an engineering company based in Cork.This is a leadership role supporting complex engineering projects within pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing environments, providing technical direction, mentoring junior engineers, and driving high-quality electrical design from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage electrical engineering projects from concept through detailed design, installation, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with all industry regulations and standards.
* Provide technical leadership to the electrical engineering team, supporting skill development, reviewing design output, and ensuring engineering excellence.
* Design and oversee electrical systems for pharmaceutical and medical device facilities, including power distribution, control systems and automation.
* Ensure all designs meet regulatory and safety standards such as ATEX, IEC, ISO 13849, IS10101, and GMP requirements.
* Work directly with clients to understand technical requirements, present solutions, and provide expert engineering guidance.
* Prepare and review detailed engineering reports, drawings, calculations, and support validation documentation (URS, DQ, FAT, SAT, etc.).
* Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for electrical systems in line with industry best practice.
* Collaborate with mechanical, automation, and process engineering teams to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary solutions.
* Support supplier evaluation, review specifications, and oversee contractor performance throughout project delivery.
* Stay updated on emerging electrical technologies, regulatory changes, and developments relevant to the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
Requirements:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with significant exposure to pharmaceutical or medical device environments.
* Proven people leadership experience, including mentoring engineers, reviewing work, and leading project teams.
* Strong understanding of GMP, IEC, ATEX, ISO 13485, NEC, and other relevant electrical and safety standards.
* Excellent knowledge of IS10101 standards.
* Experience with power distribution, PLCs, SCADA, BMS, EMS, and automation systems in regulated industries.
* Proficiency with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, EPLAN, or similar.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and experience resolving complex electrical issues.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic project environment with evolving requirements.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
