I'm seeking an experienced
Project Engineer
to support a major capital expansion programme within a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing facility based in Cork. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a high-performing engineering team delivering complex projects in a live operational environment that supports the global supply of critical healthcare products.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that capital projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with design, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the execution of capital projects from design through to construction, commissioning, and handover.
* Manage and coordinate design consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project milestones and deliverables are achieved.
* Review and approve design documentation in line with project scopes, specifications, and key milestones.
* Ensure compliance with construction methods, Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to design intent, codes, and planning regulations.
* Provide regular updates and progress reports to project stakeholders and management.
* Support change management processes and ensure project variations are properly documented and approved.
* Mentor and support junior project engineers on best practices in project delivery, design coordination, and execution.
* Act as a point of contact for planning applications and coordination of associated work packages.
* Drive continuous improvement and implement best-in-class project management practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
* Minimum of
10 years' experience
leading and implementing capital projects within the
pharmaceutical or medical device industry
.
* Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary design and construction projects in a
live operational environment
.
* Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional registration preferred.
* Strong understanding of project management principles, budgeting, scheduling, and contractor management.
* Knowledge of local planning, building control, and fire certification regulations.
* Proficiency in MS Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project).
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software is an advantage.
