About the Role The post holder has responsibility for the effective provision and operation of services and supports to adults and children in specified Ability West units which provide residential and/or short break respite services across a number of designated centres.
The post holder will work closely with the Assistant Director of Client Services with regard to both planning and implementing the effective delivery of services across a number of designated centres.
The post holder will work closely with and support the Team Leaders with regard to both planning and implementing the effective delivery of services across the designated centres under the Team Leaders remit.
Manage and monitor the annual budgets, including staffing and all aspects of expenditure within the three designated centres and be responsible for operating within approved budgets.
The post holder will ensure that the residential and/or residential respite centres under their remit comply with legislative and regulatory requirements i.e. S.I.367, HIQA National Standards etc.
The post holder will support the Team Leaders.
Purpose of the Role The purpose of this job is to ensure that all designated centres under the remit of the post holder are run in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements, Ability West's Quality Management System, Policies Procedures, Safety Statement, Strategic Plan, NQS etc., providing a home from home for the service users and reporting on a regular basis to the Assistant Director of Client Services.
Reporting Lines The post holder reports directly to the Assistant Director of Client Services.
Key Working Relationships Directors of Client Services, Finance and Human Resources; Assistant Directors of Client Services, Finance, and Human Resources; Quality and Compliance Department members; MultiDisciplinary Teams; Designated Officer; Team Leaders; Social Care Workers and Care Assistants.
The role forms part of the management structure and the post holder will participate with his/her peer group through regular meetings and collaborative work.
Department / Location Based at the Unit location with some travel to other locations in line with service and business needs.
Key Duties Be responsible for the overall general direction of the running of each of the designated centres under their remit.
Support the Team Leaders within each designated centre to ensure quality services are being delivered at all times.
Ensure that the service user's health, wellbeing, recreational and other needs are adequately met.
Ensure the service is fully compliant with relevant legislation and National Quality Standards.
Establish and maintain relationships with service users based on respect and equality, promoting independence and autonomy.
Manage and monitor the annual budget, including staffing and expenditure, and operate within approved budgets.
Use personfirst language in all communication.
Help create an atmosphere encouraging service users to develop independence, skills, personal choices, and selfdirected living.
Manage the development, implementation and review of personcentred plans.
Liaise with staff, professional supports, parents and visitors respectfully.
Foster participation and inclusion of service users in community activities.
Maintain and submit records as requested.
Complete Core HR weekly.
Monitor and review incidents on QMIS and manage risk.
Attend to correspondence promptly.
Submit required reports.
Undertake driving duties where applicable.
Coordinate and supervise medication administration and auditing.
Prepare rosters aligned with budgets, needs and skill mix.
Manage and supervise staff and volunteers, ensuring high standards and identifying training needs.
Hold staff support and development meetings.
Manage risk and safeguarding concerns.
Oversee safeguarding plans, incident management, complaints and audits.
Develop and review action plans from audits, inspections and reviews.
Attend team meetings.
Submit required notifications promptly.
Participate in the OnCall rota.

Person Specification A minimum of 3 years in a management or supervisory role in the area of health or social care.
Essential Criteria An appropriate qualification in health or social care management (minimum Level 7 degree).
A proven track record in managing a residential service meeting quality and regulatory requirements.
Proven budget management experience.
Experience in report writing, personal support plans, people and roster management.
Full driving licence with access to own vehicle (mileage paid).
Excellent working knowledge of legislative/regulatory requirements.
Salary: Social Care Leader salary scale (€53,376-€62,725) for WTE Working hours: 36 hrs per week.
