Future Cast is an Innovation, Education, and R&D centre focussed on the Construction and Quarrying industries. We collaborate with companies in these sectors and throughout their manufacturing supply chains on projects to increase the adoption of advanced technology and processes. We are a non-profit organisation with a remit to research and disseminate technologies in Industry 4.0 to our member companies. We help solve pressing issues with our accumulated knowledge and expertise in industrial automation, innovation, and funding.
We are promotors of Industry 4.0 Skillnet. We assist companies in the Construction, Quarry, and Manufacturing industries to access subsidised training in using new technologies to assist them on their digital journeys.

With strong prospects for growth, Future Cast is looking to expand its team of mentors and consultants across its portfolio of areas that is compliant with Local Enterprise Office (LEO) and Enterprise Ireland standards on an expected start date in October. If you are a well-qualified and experienced mentor or consultant in any of the areas listed below, we would love to hear from you. Experience in working with and mentoring clients in business is an advantage.
The Role is a part-time, hourly-paid role.
Skills and Requirements:
* A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in one or more of the fields of expertise:
* Finance for Business
* Green (Energy or Sustainability) for Business
* Lean for Business
* Digital for Business
* Substantial and demonstratable experience (minimum 2 years) in mentoring or consulting.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to excellence in course delivery and customer service.
We are looking for a panel of mentors compliant with LEO and Enterprise Ireland standards in the following areas:
* Finance for Business mentors
* Green (Energy or Sustainability) for business mentors
* Lean for Business mentors
* Digital for Business mentors
The role of the mentor is to share wisdom gained from experience and learning. The mentor's principal function is to listen and to ask questions. They help the clients explore their business goals and ideas for the future and to help them realistically appraise their current situation. As business plans develop, the role of the mentor is to challenge and support the execution of the client's plans and to assist them to keep track of their objectives.
Finance for business mentor explained:
Support businesses with the completion of comprehensive financial projections, business model development, growth planning, innovation roadmaps, and change management strategies tailored to their stage and sector. Complete detailed pricing structures, cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and cost control to help improve financial visibility and sustainability. Help clients prepare for investment by assessing and strengthening their investment readiness.
Green for business mentor explained:
Complete Energy audits and BER (building energy rating) assessments for residential and commercial properties. Consult businesses on green concepts, providing technical or advisory supports on lowering their carbon footprint, reducing costs and improving the environmental profile of the business.
Lean for Business mentor explained:
Consult businesses on lean concepts. Support the business for an agreed period to yield beneficial savings, improves systems, processes and better communication. Be familiar with the lean principles and lean tools. Using established Lean principles such as identifying value, mapping the value stream, creating flow, establishing pull, and pursuing continuous improvement you will help the business identify areas where change can deliver real savings, reduce unnecessary work, and improve consistency.
Digital for Business mentor explained:
As a Digital for Business Mentor, your role is to support and guide businesses in understanding, adopting, and applying digital tools and technologies to improve operations, competitiveness, and customer engagement. You will work closely with business owners or teams to assess digital readiness by reviewing current processes, systems, and digital capabilities. This helps create a clear picture of where the business stands in its digital journey.
Experience and Knowledge:
It is expected that the persons approved as a LEO mentor will possess the following functional competencies:
· Good knowledge of broad issues facing Irish industry and service companies, particularly issues affecting the support and development of micro-enterprise
· Excellent administrative skills together with the ability to successfully organise and prioritise work
· Sound judgment as well as good communication
· Computer literate with knowledge of relevant applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
· Mentoring / Coaching skills including:
· Listening, advising and provide direction without judging.
· Supporting business, questioning, and challenging them.
· Helping the business owner identify problems and suggest areas for improvement.
· Discussing solutions and innovative ways of improving business activity.
· Helping with the decision-making process / Non directive.
· Sharing experience and knowledge.
· Providing structure and context for discussion.
· Providing guidance with regard to business strategy & plans.
Qualifications:
The mentor will possess some or all the following:
· At least two years' experience working in or with small businesses.
· Relevant experience working in an area where professional or technical skills may have been developed that are transferable to micro enterprise.
· Previous experience of delivering mentoring assignments to micro enterprise clients would be desirable
· Relevant third level qualifications are desirable.
· Experience in conducting energy audits for commercial properties will be considered a strong advantage.
· Qualifications in Lean will be advantageous.
