Research Nurse - Medical Oncology Unijobs on behalf of our Public Sector Client is currently recruiting for a Research Nurse within Galway.
The position is to be filled ASAP with any interested candidates to be available to commence work immediately.
€40,267 - €66,705 per annum, subject to consideration based on qualifications and experience.
*This position may be subject to Garda Vetting and Foreign Police Clearance, if applicable you will be required to obtain these prior to commencing in this role* This role involves supporting the coordination, management and delivery of Medical Oncology clinical trials and research projects.
The position works closely with clinicians, researchers and the multidisciplinary team to ensure studies are conducted in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
Purpose of the Post To support the planning, coordination and delivery of clinical trials and research projects by providing clinical expertise, patient coordination and research administration to ensure the safe and effective conduct of studies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Plan and coordinate clinical research activities to support the smooth operation of Medical Oncology studies.
Work with investigators and the multidisciplinary team in the conduct and management of clinical trials.
Screen potential participants and assess eligibility for inclusion in clinical research studies.
Support and contribute to the informed consent process for patients participating in research studies.
Provide education and information to patients regarding their disease, research participation and treatment options.
Coordinate patient treatment plans and follow-up schedules for research participants.
Ensure patient confidentiality, dignity and ethical standards are maintained during all research activities.
Provide nursing expertise and clinical care to patients participating in study protocols.
Maintain accurate research documentation including site files, case report forms and data records.
Ensure prompt management and organisation of all study-related correspondence.
Work with the multidisciplinary team to support recruitment targets for studies.
Assist in the evaluation and management of clinical issues in accordance with study protocols.
Support the management of biological specimens and collaborate with research laboratory teams where required.
Assist with manuscript preparation, research publications and grant applications where required.
Prepare clinical studies for internal, sponsor and regulatory audits.
Adhere to standard operating procedures for clinical research projects.
Participate in training, investigator meetings, educational events and professional development activities.
Support education initiatives for staff, patients and the wider community regarding clinical research.
Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role as assigned.
Skills, Competencies and/or Knowledge Current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Nursing Science.
Minimum of two years post-qualification clinical experience.
Clinical experience in oncology services or a related specialty.
Understanding of clinical research processes and Good Clinical Practice.
Experience in phlebotomy and blood specimen management.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain accurate clinical and research documentation.
High level of professionalism and commitment to patient care.
Strong IT skills including use of databases and clinical documentation systems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
Experience participating in research projects or clinical trials (desirable).
