A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Specialist, Environmental Health and Safety.
The individual will provide EHS leadership and technical guidance to develop and implement the Environmental, Safety and Health Management System to enable full compliance with legal requirements related to Environmental, Safety and Health; our corporate global standards, policies, procedures and guidelines related to EHS; and industry best practices to bring the Dunboyne site to mature sustaining operations.
The EHS Senior Specialist for the Dunboyne facility will play a leading role in the development of our EHS management system and implementation of our global standards to bring cross-site operations to a mature sustaining level.
What you will do:
Responsibilities
Be the EHS point of contact and owner of cross-site local EHS standards; complete EHS gap assessments and audits of effective EHS standards in line with Global Safety and Environment Standards to transition the Dunboyne site to sustaining operations.
Compile and submit required safety, health, and environmental reports to corporate and regulatory agencies.
Manage implementation of GSE Audit corrective actions to completion across Dunboyne; act as key contributor to site audits and inspections.
Assist with managing contractor EHS compliance and related high-risk work safety procedures to a high-performance level.
Ensure that Pre-Start Up, Safety, Environment Review (PSSER) and new product introductions are compliant with regulations, corporate requirements and industry best practice.
Lead site meetings, compile performance data and present where appropriate for operations, EHS Council, and other forums as required.
Support Dunboyne site run the business Tier 1, 2, and 3 processes; own, act upon, and implement sustainable solutions.
Develop and target the EHS cross-site training strategy and support the delivery and coaching for both management and employees.
Manage EHS documentation through IT systems such as Power Apps, Enablon, Midas, Workday, SharePoint, MyLearning, Meds, and ePASS.
Ensure that adequate records are maintained to demonstrate compliance with EHS procedures and the EHS management system.
Participate in Hoshin Kanri planning and support Ireland cross-site collaboration; volunteer for global EHS programs as planned.
Promote a safe by choice culture with site colleagues.
Investigate events and implement appropriate Corrective and Preventative actions; support lead investigators and coordinate performance review of events trending.
Review processes, facilities, procedures, and management of change documents to ensure conformance to EHS regulations, standards, and guidelines; develop permitting strategies based on regulatory requirements and site plans.
Skills you will need
In order to excel in this role, you will likely have:
A thorough understanding of all applicable EHS regulatory requirements
Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders on EHS matters with the ability to quickly adjust to changing situations
Ability to manage complex programs and balance strategic needs with day-to-day activities
Risk management, assessment and implementing controls appropriate to the risk
Experience in successfully implementing EHS programs enterprise-wide
Experience in managing and implementing change
Education
Degree in Environmental, Safety Management or related fields, or technical primary Bachelor degree with a post-grad EHS qualification.
Experience
10+ years EHS experience in Oil and Gas, Energy, Chemical and/or Pharmaceutical / biotechnology industries; other highly regulated industries will be considered.
Experience supporting multiple activities/projects and working with EHS regulatory agencies and corporate support functions.
Written and oral communication skills that support clear presentation of information at all organizational levels.
Proven leadership skills and the ability to assume responsibility for appropriate EHS decision-making.
