With over 8,250 colleagues globally and around 1000 in the UK & Ireland, we are growing significantly and seeking the very best talent to join the SYSTRA team and lead in infrastructure design.

Building on the success of infrastructure projects across Ireland, we are looking for a Principal-level engineer to enhance our engineering design capabilities, develop strong client relationships in both public and private sectors, and provide managerial and technical guidance to our infrastructure team.

The role is based in Dublin with flexible options for office-based and remote work.

This position involves supporting the Engineering Lead in managing active travel/urban realm and street enhancement schemes, developing face-to-face client relationships, and providing construction support across projects nationwide.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will support the delivery of multidisciplinary traffic, highways, and infrastructure projects for clients across Ireland and the UK, and will:

* Act as Project Manager for transport infrastructure design projects, controlling project budgets.
* Manage staff in preparing design projects at various stages.
* Support contract document preparation, tendering, and construction phases.
* Ensure work quality and compliance with standards.
* Manage scheme deliverables and review technical reports.
* Assist in preparing expressions of interest and tenders.
* Ensure health, safety, and environmental legislation compliance.
* Liaise with Sector Directors and resource managers for opportunity identification and work planning.
* Prepare fee proposals and support project budgeting.
* Provide on-site client support during construction.
* Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulators.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives.
* Stay updated on infrastructure design advancements and implement new practices.

Knowledge & Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

* A relevant degree and substantial experience in a design consultancy.
* Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
* Strong client relationship skills and project management success.
* Experience in active travel, bus priority, urban traffic management, and urban realm projects.
* Proficiency in highway design software and detailed highway design experience.
* Experience in preparing contract documents, tender specifications, and supporting clients through tendering and construction phases.
* Knowledge of relevant standards, guidelines, and legislation.
* Experience in site attendance during construction is desirable.
