About the roleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Resident Engineer role on the R132 Connectivity Project in Swords, Co Dublin and will be full-time on site.The Project, of approximately 2.6km in length, is situated between Lissenhall Interchange and Pinnockhill junction along the R132, to the east of Swords Town Centre.The principal scheme requirement is to enhance facilities at key intersections and crossing points along the R132 Swords Road, improving connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists travelling across the R132 Swords Road from existing and proposed development lands to Swords Town Centre.This will be achieved by replacing the existing roundabouts with signalised junctions and incorporating controlled pedestrian cycle crossings.The works are due to commence in March 2026 and will be constructed across a 25-month period.Key traits and skillsReporting to a Director/Team Leader, the successful Senior Resident Engineer will oversee and be responsible for inspections, technical matters on site, delegated contract matters, assisting the Employer (Fingal Co Co) and Employer’s Representative, liaising with the Contractor, representing DBFL on the project, undertaking public liaison and managing stakeholders including landowners and service providers. They will also be responsible for supervising a second resident engineer.Excellent communication skills and verbal and written English.Previous experience as a Senior Resident Engineer / Resident Engineer role, for similar road / road improvement / infrastructure projects in a live urban/suburban environmentExperienced in Contract Administration – Public Works Contract.Clear understanding of roads projects including application of TII Publications / DMRB ( Specification for Roadworks, Traffic Signs Manual etc.)Experience in the specification of civil engineering materials.Ability to interpret tender documents and drawings and review and organise large amounts of information.Strong numerical skills and problem-solving abilities.Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations / experience in monitoring Contractor compliance.Strong leadership and collaboration qualitiesMonitor and report on works being carried out onsite, prepare technical reports and presentations.Monitoring materials incorporated into the permanent work, workmanship, and testing in accordance with the Works Requirements.Undertake delegated contract administration duties.Informing the Employer’s Representative, employer and designer of issues arising on site.Reviewing and commenting on contractor documentation.Stakeholder engagement including local businesses/residents and local interest groupsLiaise with landowners in relation to accommodation and boundary works.Liaise and knowledge of dealing with third party utilities / service providers and stakeholders.Desired qualifications and requirementsAt least 9 years Post Qualification Civil Engineering experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMinimum Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree (Hons)Ideally Chartered status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.Computer Skills MS Office Suite, AutoCAD.H&S training & Safe pass.Customer focused with excellent client relationship management skillsSelf-motivatedA current driver’s licence is essential.What we offer2-year fixed term contract.Competitive market salary.Pension matched up to 5%.Generous Annual Leave Allowance (basic allowance 23 days).Tax Saver Scheme & Bike to Work Scheme.Payment of Annual Professional Institution Subscriptions.Wellbeing support including access to an independent Employee Assistance Scheme.A working culture that is diverse, inclusive and looks after your wellness at work.Company Social Committee which organises many social events throughout the year.Continuous technical learning paths through a wide range of activities, knowledge sharing platforms, seminars and workshops, lunch and learn presentations and other events that can support your career growth.CPD AccreditationWe are a certified CPD Accredited Employer with Engineers Ireland (EI), recognising that the company can only grow and develop through its people.
