Staff Nurse – Children’s Hub

Position: Staff Nurse Children’s Hub (2 x part‑time positions or 1 Full‑time position)
Grade: Staff Nurse
Location: Montenotte, Cork. The initial assignment will be within Children’s Services in Montenotte; roles may be subject to change to meet organisational needs.
Hours: Part‑time: 37.5 hours over a two‑week period; Full‑time: 75 hours per fortnight. Evening and weekend work will be part of the role.
Employment type: Permanent (Part‑time or Full‑time).
Salary: 13‑point salary scale as of 01/02/2026. New appointees start at the minimum point of the scale; incremental credit is applied for relevant experience in public service agencies.
About the role: As a Staff Nurse in our Children’s Hub, you will be a key part of a dynamic and supportive team providing high‑quality, person‑centred care. You will work collaboratively with all team members in the Hub and across all short‑break services in the region to support the complex health‑care needs of children and young people accessing our services.
Key responsibilities
Deliver nursing care to children and young people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
Support the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual support plans/short‑breaks passports in conjunction with the child’s disability network team and other relevant services.
Participate in multi‑disciplinary team meetings and contribute to service development.
Ensure safeguarding, dignity and inclusion are central to all practice.
Requirements
Relevant third‑level qualification in Nursing and current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
Up‑to‑date permissions to work and reside in Ireland at the time of application.
Very good interpersonal skills and flexibility to meet the changing needs of the people Horizons supports.
Experience working with children with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is an advantage.
Proficient IT skills.
Team player and flexible.
Full clean driving licence.
