Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Electrical Fuseboard Tester to join our quality assurance team. The role involves testing, inspecting, and validating the performance, safety, and compliance of electrical fuseboards (consumer units) before they are installed or shipped. The ideal candidate will have experience with electrical systems, strong diagnostic skills, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform electrical testing on fuseboards to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., BS 7671 or relevant local codes).
· Use electrical test equipment including insulation resistance testers, continuity testers, loop testers, and RCD testers.
· Check for correct wiring, labeling, and component installation.
· Inspect for defects, loose connections, short circuits, or incorrect configurations.
· Verify correct operation of circuit protection devices (MCBs, RCDs, RCBOs, etc.).
· Record test results and complete detailed reports for each unit.
· Work closely with assembly teams to communicate faults or improvements.
· Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
· Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of failed units where necessary.
Requirements:
· NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent (preferred).
· 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification (BS 7671) is a strong asset.
· Proven experience in electrical testing or fuseboard manufacturing/inspection.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
· Familiarity with IEE test procedures and documentation.
· Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach to testing.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Desirable:
· City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Inspection & Testing) certification.
· Experience working in a production or factory environment.
· Understanding of lean manufacturing or quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
