Overall Role Objective
The Purchasing Officer is responsible for the coordination and management of all purchasing activities. The main objective is to ensure effective purchasing and delivery of goods and services while establishing and rationalizing key supplier agreements, identifying new opportunities, and continuously improving efficiencies in compliance with legislation. The role also involves tendering processes and contract administration in line with company policies.
What you will be doing?
Acquire/purchase goods and services for the company.
Maintain and update purchasing records/data and pricing in the system.
Prepare purchasing reports as necessary.
Prepare and process purchase orders and documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Monitor and coordinate the deliveries.
Source, select and negotiate the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries and services with suppliers.
Identify potential new suppliers where necessary.
Conduct complex bid processes and perform commercial evaluations.
Ensure all purchasing documents are correctly maintained and filed accordingly.
Perform any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by the Manager.
Who is a good fit for this role?
Suitable candidates must have 3+ years of experience working in a procurement department.
Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical products is desirable.
Understanding of purchasing/contracting procedures and principles.
Customer service skills, including high level communication (verbal and written).
Experience in planning, organizing, prioritizing and coordinating work in a changing environment.
IT skills – Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Excel and Word.
